Accurate diagnosis begins with a clear understanding of how sensors, actuators, control modules, and mechanical components work together. WTA’s Engine Diagnostic Controls Advanced Technician Training Course equips fleet technicians with the skills required to identify faults quickly, avoid unnecessary parts replacement, and perform precise, cost-effective repairs across modern engine and powertrain platforms.

Technicians learn the operating principles of engine control systems, including airflow, fuel delivery, ignition timing, variable valve systems, exhaust aftertreatment, and emissions controls. The course emphasizes how electronic control modules interpret sensor data, command actuator response, and adjust system operation under varying load and environmental conditions.

Hands-on instruction is central to this course. Participants use scan tools, code readers, digital multimeters, pressure and flow testing tools, and oscilloscopes to evaluate engine data, analyze waveforms, interpret diagnostic trouble codes, and verify component operation. Training focuses on real-world diagnostic procedures, ensuring technicians gain the confidence and repeatable methods needed to solve complex performance, drivability, and emissions issues.

This course is designed for technicians working on light-, medium-, and heavy-duty vehicles powered by diesel, CNG, propane, hybrid, electric, and other alternative-fuel systems. By the end of training, technicians have a deeper understanding of advanced engine control strategies and the diagnostic tools required to support high-uptime fleet operations.
