MEDIUM / HEAVY-DUTY MULTIPLEX & PROGRAMMABLE LOGIC CONTROLLER (PLC) TECHNICIAN
TRAINING COURSE

The adoption of multiplexed vehicle networks has transformed how modern fleet vehicles operate and communicate. By allowing multiple electronic control units (ECUs) to share data over common communication lines, multiplexing significantly reduces wiring complexity while enabling advanced vehicle functions such as diagnostics, predictive maintenance, and safety system integration.

For fleet technicians, understanding how these control systems communicate is critical. Modern vehicles—whether powered by diesel, CNG, propane, hybrid, or electric powertrains—use networked controllers that rely on Controller Area Network (CAN), LIN, and Ethernet communication systems. Technicians who can interpret these signals and diagnose network or module faults can identify issues faster, minimize downtime, and keep vehicles on the road longer.

While programmable logic controllers (PLCs) are more common in vehicle support systems (such as charging infrastructure, shop automation, and diagnostic test benches), many of the same principles—logic control, fault tracing, and input/output mapping—apply directly to vehicle ECUs. Our course bridges this knowledge, helping technicians understand both PLC fundamentals and vehicle multiplex logic so they can confidently diagnose and repair advanced vehicle control systems.

The WTA Multiplex & Control Systems Training Course provides:

  • Fundamentals of multiplexed vehicle networks (CAN, LIN, Ethernet)

  • Interpretation of network wiring diagrams and communication topologies

  • Identification and diagnosis of multiplex-related faults

  • Introduction to PLC logic and ladder concepts used in fleet diagnostic systems

  • Hands-on training with diagnostic software and network analyzers

Equip your technicians with the skills to understand today’s complex vehicle control systems and keep your fleet operating at peak reliability.
