VEHICLE ELECTRICAL SYSTEMS DIAGNOSIS
LEVEL 1

TRAINING COURSE

WTA’s Level 1 Vehicle Electrical Systems Diagnosis Training provides fleet technicians with a strong foundation of the electrical principles and diagnostic practices required to service modern light-, medium-, and heavy-duty vehicles. The course introduces technicians to fundamental electrical concepts, common components, circuit construction, digital multimeter operation, wiring schematics, and established troubleshooting techniques, which are used across all vehicles, regardless of the type of propulsion system or vehicle manufacturer.

Technicians learn how to safely work with electrical systems, identify circuit types, understand voltage, resistance, and current flow, and recognize how component failures influence system operation. WTA combines guided instruction in the classroom with hands-on exercises to build technician proficiency in digital multimeter use, terminal and connector inspection, and basic circuit testing methods that apply to every vehicle class.

A major focus of the course is accurate circuit diagnosis. Technicians practice interpreting wiring schematics, tracing circuits through harnesses and modules, and using multimeter data to pinpoint faults. As techs learn structured, repeatable diagnostic processes, they gain the confidence to identify open circuits, shorts, high resistance faults, and failed components which eliminates unnecessary parts replacements.

At the conclusion of Level 1 Vehicle Electrical Systems Training, technicians are equipped with the essential skills needed to diagnose electrical issues efficiently and correctly. This foundation improves repair accuracy and reduces downtime, and prepares technicians for more advanced electrical, hybrid, and high-voltage training as they progress through WTA’s curriculum.
