VEHICLE ELECTRICAL SYSTEMS DIAGNOSIS
LEVEL 2

TRAINING COURSE

WTA’s Level 2 Advanced Vehicle Electrical Systems Diagnosis Training builds off our Level 1 course, deepening a technician’s ability to diagnose and repair complex electrical and electronic systems found on modern light-, medium-, and heavy-duty gasoline, diesel, propane, hybrid, and fully electric vehicles. This course builds directly on Level 1 fundamentals and moves technicians into advanced diagnostic strategies required for repairing and maintaining today’s electronically controlled systems.

Technicians develop a deeper understanding of computer-controlled circuits, sensor and actuator behavior, module inputs and outputs, CAN communication, and high-level fault isolation techniques. They learn how advanced vehicle electronics interact, how to evaluate system performance under load, and how component failures propagate through interconnected circuits.

Hands-on instruction is a central part of Level 2 Vehicle Electrical Systems Training. Technicians practice using advanced digital multimeter functions, including duty cycle, frequency, voltage drop under load, and min/max capture. Training also covers the evaluation of computer input and output signals, interpretation of logic-level voltage patterns, and identification of circuit failures that may not be visible through basic testing methods. Using guided diagnostic exercises, techs learn how to analyze circuit behavior, validate component operation, and confirm repairs with precision.

By the end of Level 2 Electrical Systems Training, technicians are equipped to troubleshoot complex electrical concerns quickly and accurately, reducing unnecessary part replacement, improving repair quality, and ensuring fleet vehicles return to service faster. Level 2 prepares technicians for even more specialized training in hybrid and high-voltage systems for light-, medium- and heavy-duty vehicles.
